Character: Leona Kingscholar
Canon: Twisted Wonderland | Post Book 6

Background Information:
Leona is second-born prince of Sunset Savanna, ten years younger than his older brother, Falena - who is currently acting king. Due to his childhood being constantly compared to Falena, who is known for his optimism and overall bright attitude, Leona has grown to become sarcastic and bitter to those around him. Since he was born with a dangerous unique magic (King's Roar) that is capable of turning everything he desires into sand, he is feared by his country as they are fearful of droughts. This has further stemmed his own beliefs that he is hated by his own countrymen and since he holds no particular political influence, has come to believe that there is nothing he can do to change his position of "second-born prince".
Initially received an invitation to attend Night Raven College, but refused due to the fact that he believes the curriculum taught was at a lower-level than what he was already being taught privately. However, he accepted it and attended Night Raven College a year later after receiving the invitation when his nephew, Cheka, was born. With the birth of Cheka, Leona realizes that he had no way of becoming king and thus, chose to run away to NRC to get away from his family.
Attending Night Raven College had brought about a certain freedom for him as he was treated equally and (mostly) without fear from his fellow peers. However, after being humiliated by one Malleus Draconia during the Interdorm Spelldrive Tournament, he has begun planning an attack on the Briar Valley heir; he managed to gather the entirety of Savanaclaw Dorm to conspire against Diasomnia in order to take Malleus down. When it was later revealed that his attempts of trying to do so had failed, Leona immediately gave up while noting all of their efforts had been in vain. This led to his own dormmates trying to attack him in an attempt to get him to change his mind, but it further led to Leona's mental breakdown. It was only when Lilia Vanrouge told him that it was due to his temperament and inability to care for his own men that he would not be able to become king did Leona finally break, agreeing with him before finally Overblotting - a condition that would consume a mage when filled with negativity and overuse of magic.
After being defeated and brought back to his senses, Leona is later roped into reluctantly housing the MC ("Yuu) and Grim in Savanaclaw when they made a deal with Azul to save their friends from servitude. Despite initially not wanting to help, he eventually gave in and personally stepped in to deal with Azul while the Freshmen dealt with the Leech twins in attaining a photo from a famous museum in the Coral Sea. As a result, Leona inadvertently helped cause Azul's Overblot in which he participated in the fight to knock Azul back into his senses. It was during this time it was discovered that Leona had also made a deal with Azul concerning something he did not share.
Due to the fact that there had been five Overblots in the school already, Leona along with the other affected students were taken by S.T.Y.X (a research organization who studies Blot) for research. While there, he was tested with the others to determine how their Blot (use of magic) would be in order to figure out how they became Overblotted in the first place. Unfortunately, it was also during this time that Idia Shroud - heir to the S.T.Y.X organization and housewarden of Ignihyde Dorm - decided to Overblot in order to be with his (dead) younger brother, Ortho Shroud. Leona broke free alongside the other captured students and decided to go down into the Underworld themselves in order to defeat and stop Idia from releasing Phantoms unto the world. Fortunately, the students managed to succeed and were transported back to Night Raven College in which Leona reunited with Ruggie and Jack.
Personality:
1) Tell us about who your character is and what's someone first impression would be upon meeting them.
➙ At first glance, it is easy to assume that Leona is a lazy lion. He is someone who tends to enjoy taking naps whenever he can and skips classes on the regular. Many people who meet him tend to call him arrogant and selfish -- both of which even he agrees to. Leona is someone who holds himself confidently even in the face of danger, having the magic and intellect to back it up. His confidence is also what draws others to him as a 'leader' as he is able to convince his entire dorm to take up arms against Diasomnia.
However, while many seem to think of him as a slacker, Leona is much more observant and smarter than his fellow peers (and teachers) give him credit for. He is even known for being the best strategist in regards to Spelldrive (think magical ultimate frisbee) and even the royal chamberlain of his country - Kifaji - has mentioned that Leona is a strong chess player to the point where he can even outsmart the adults. It is due to his intellect that Leona is able to mostly pass his classes (really, it's just his continuous absences that has led him to being held back a year) and respected by his peers. This extends to being able to read people, such as being able to see through Jamil's mask and calling him out for being a 'snake' ready to bite the hand of his master.
Unfortunately, Leona carries with him some trauma that stems from his childhood caused by the royal staff continuously comparing him to his older brother and most of his countrymen fearing his unique magic. It has led to some self-deprecating comments about himself, going so far as calling himself the 'hated' second prince of Sunset Savanna. Despite this, however, Leona has shown that he still cares greatly for his country such as trying to implement ideas to improve it so that it doesn't depend too much on the nature that the country thrives on--such as having easier accessible waterways and working roads.
Leona also cares for his underclassmen, something he would never admit aloud. He has helped Jack when he was bullied and despite being pressured to do so, helped the protagonist in defeating Azul. Ruggie also mentioned before that Leona would sometimes help tutor him in return for some of the jobs that the hyena has done for him.
2) What is a driving force your character has? What goals do they have, what motivates them, etc?
➙ Generally, Leona doesn't have much motivation to do much of anything. Initially, he worked hard in order to become king in his country, but stopped once Cheka was born as it meant that Leona had no hand on the throne. As he had no true political influence either, Leona doesn't bother putting in much effort aside from criticizing Falena for his way of handling the kingdom.
On the other hand, Leona can quickly become motivated when it feels like his personal pride is on the line, such as him personally plotting to take down Malleus for the Interdorm Spelldrive Tournament after being personally humiliated by him in previous years. He would also bother putting in the effort if it benefits him in some way. The only exception thus far is when he helped take down an Overblotted Idia from destroying the world, but it can easily be argued that it was in his best interest to not die.
3) What are their flaws as a character? What is something they've messed up, or have done that they regret?
➙ Laziness, arrogant--two of the many flaws one can attribute to Leona Kingscholar. Since he feels like his efforts and hard work had never been recognized as a child, Leona stopped caring about putting in any effort at all. This has led to his mentality that nothing he does matters in the end, which led to dangerous increases of blot during the Interdorm Spelldrive Tournament. Due to constantly being compared to Falena as a child, he can get touchy whenever his brother is mentioned or whenever he feels like he is being 'talked down to'. All of this negativity finally reached a boiling part which led to his Overblot.
Leona also has a habit of putting work onto others, though this is more due to his princely upbringing as he is used to having servants around. Ruggie agreeing to be his gopher in return for payment does not help with this side of Leona. Multiple examples include Leona having Ruggie wash his laundry and clean his room, or even handle some dorm matters while Leona himself was off taking a nap somewhere.
Despite his intellect, Leona is not above using underhanded tactics in order to attain victory. This includes making a deal with Azul in return for a powerful potion in which he gave to Ruggie, or giving advice to the protagonist on how to win against Azul later on.
4) Optional: What is something unique and interesting about them, or what is a fun little tidbit that sets them apart from the crowd?
➙ He respects females whether living or dead.

Magic: Like every mage attending Night Raven College, Leona is capable of using magic. This can range anywhere from offensive (using elemental spells), defensive (casting barriers), flight, and summoning inanimate objects. (His spells will be weaker.)
➙ King's Roar: This is Leona's unique magic. Born with such a powerful spell at his disposal, he's capable of turning anything he touches into sand and is able to control the sands at will. Since he's mastered this since he was a child, Leona is also capable of turning a living human being into sand as well. (This will be nerfed to the point where Leona will not be able to dry out an actual human being.)
Sense of smell: Since he is a beastman, Leona has a heightened sense of smell. Unlike other beastmen shown, he is also capable of smelling magic on people.

Corsair: Leona is a 'villain' in the grand scheme of things and have never been one for the rules. He enjoys the idea of freedom without being shackled down, and not having people have some sort of expectations out of him.
